ABOUT SAMUEL LEIGHT
Early Life
I was born in San Ramon California, moving to Torrance when I was younger, at the age of 2. Since then I have lived in Torrance California. I loved playing sports, doing music, and going to the beach growing up. I attended Arnold Elementary School, following that I attended Calle Mayor Middle school, then finally South High School. I received my Eagle Scout when I was 16 years old. I also was able to play varsity baseball and water polo at South High School. I took French classes at South High School, yet never enjoyed French growing up until I went on my mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints to the Ivory Coast in West Africa. In the Ivory Coast I was able to learn how to speak French fluently, teaching people about Jesus Christ, also teaching English.
Ivory Coast
I served from 2019 to Covid 19 as a missionary, then went to Southern Utah University for one year. After one year, I returned to the Ivory Coast for fifteen months, solidifying my French. In the Ivory Coast, people speak French, a different French than in France, nevertheless, still the beautiful French. I learned the beauty of the French Language, and was able to also learn about the wonderful beauty of the Ivory Coast. The Ivory Coast, referred to as Cote d'Ivoire is a remarkable country in West Africa with wonderful people.
